Vivekanand

Vikram Vivekanand started playing guitar at 13, growing up in Chennai. A few years later he formed his rock band Grey Shack in college — and once he realised he was good enough to take it seriously, he turned it into a full-time career after graduating.

By 2011 he was touring as a session musician for two successful local acts, La Pongal and Yodhakaa — including a national television appearance with La Pongal on MTV Coke Studio's second season. In 2013 he began performing with acclaimed violinist Karthick Iyer, which grew into IndoSoul — a band blending Carnatic music with progressive rock, jazz, funk and R&B. IndoSoul has since toured the US and Canada twice, alongside a packed local touring and festival schedule.

Vikram continues to perform with Grey Shack, whose third album Inn Gloom released in September 2025, and works as a hired-gun guitarist for artists and bands including Vijay Narain, RJD, Medium Rare and Haricharan. In 2025 he co-founded Groovejet, his newest project.

His most notable recent session work is as guitarist on Sanjay Subrahmanyan and Sean Roldan's Anbenum Peruveli, a contemporary reimagining of Tamil poet-saint Vallalar's verses — covered by The Hindu, Frontline and The Wire. In 2023 he performed at Singapore's Esplanade Concert Hall as part of Sean Roldan and Friends.

Vikram tours all over India and abroad, averaging 85 to 95 shows a year, and is supported by D'Addario. He also runs a YouTube channel as getvicky13, documenting the gear and rigs behind his live and session sound — pedalboards, signal chains, amps, and tone.
